NATHALIE KYROU'S PAINTINGS
My theme
for my first solo painting exhibition, ‘Breathing Colours’ is a great example
of what can come out of a simple idea: in this case that of action and motion.
Each of my paintings in this theme is entitled with one word that has been
inspired by an action. The different ways I have used paint on each canvas will
hopefully illustrate my versatility as an artist, and at the same time show my
love for working with colours and shapes. My medium of preference and the one I
specialize in is acrylics, but I often blend these with molding pastes and mix
them with other mediums in order to achieve texture and relief, and to make my
paintings appear more three-dimensional. Although I usually reserve the use of
oil paints for other styles of work, I sometimes paint abstracts in oil,
but usually only when I need to emphasize a softer look and when I want to
blend colors more easily.
